Within the scope of its role of guidance and control, CONI has initiated audit procedures against the Federations. Following specific findings arising from the audits in progress at the FIN (the Italian Swimming Federation), CONI proceeded to ask for an independent legal opinion, which aims to recognise the possible existence of criminal act.
On the basis of the findings, which constitute the specific hypothesis of criminal offences, the Secretary General, who acting in the capacity of a public official, has taken steps to forward the documents to the competent authority.
