Italy comes close to the podium with Pittin and Merighetti. Malagò: "Let's be positive about these results"
The sixth day of the competition is marked by misfortune, Italy only gets close to the podium. Alessandro Pittin, after his exploits at Vancouver 2010, failed to be rewarded with the excitement of another bronze in the Nordic Combined, despite an incredible comeback in the 10 km trail, which - after 25th place in the jump - allowed him to move up 21 places. Daniela Merighetti was also fourth in the downhill, which was won in a dead heat by Tina Maze and Dominique Gisin. The President of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, hightlighted the positive aspects of their performances. "We must look at all the positives in these results. They're a sign that we're working hard. The guys draw strength, energy and motivation from them, even if there is some regret. Merighetti and Pittin were fantastic. Daniela was amazing, having had an accident which threatened to make her miss the race. Pittin moved us all, he's a thoroughbred".
