Gregorio Paltrinieri is back on the Olympic podium! After his gold medal in Rio 2016 in the 1500 freestyle, the Italian threw his heart over the obstacle and, despite his less than optimal condition, led for a long time in the 800 freestyle final held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and won a silver medal that is worth a lot. The Italian, 2nd at the finish line at +0.24 from the American Robert Finke (7:41.87), after a race on the attack, kept behind at least the Ukrainian Mykhailo Romanchuk (+0.46). Silver is his. Against bad luck and against everything (photo Ferraro GMT Sport).

This is the seventh silver and 18th overall medal for the Italian Team at Tokyo 2020.
