The Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi has today met with Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee. The main talking point of the meeting was Rome's 2024 Olympic bid, and the highly symbolic route of the Olympic Torch Relay which would begin in Lampedusa. The meeting was attended by the General Director of the IOC, Christophe De Kepper, Italian members of the IOC, Mario Pescante, Franco Carraro and Ivo Ferriani, President of the Organising Committee, Luca di Montezemolo, President of CONI, Giovanni Malagò alongside Secretary-General Roberto Fabbricini.
